Roe uses grand historical description to pull the reader back in time.  The reader can enjoy the elegant comfort of upper crust English living as well as taste the dust kicked up by the wagon trains and feel all the backbreaking hardships as settlers travel across America to claim open land and create new lives. 

Author Shirley A. Roe is the author of A Call to Faith and Freedom and The Whittaker Family Reunion, the sequel to this book. She has won several awards for poetry.
